Update

Work is going well.  I especially like the idea of getting off of work at four.  The only bummer is I have to wake up early in order to be there by seven thirty.  But oh well.  I'm enjoying it.  And the people are great.

Since going back to work, my reading rate has plummeted.  I was pretty much reading a book a day.  Now it's taking me two to three days to read a book.  Oh, and I won a book off of Goodreads.  I'm excited.

I will be doing some online Christmas shopping this weekend.  I decided I don't want to do actual retail shopping because the stores are too busy.  And the feel of the computer underneath my hands is more appealing.

Gizmo really needs a haircut.  His hair's getting long.

Lots of randomness.  Sorry I don't have anything awesome or exciting to say.  Life is good!

Entitlement

This world has gone to the dark side.  Too many people have that feeling of entitlement.  I'm alive and breathing, therefore I deserve a computer.  Or a sports car.  Or something else that I shouldn't have to work for.  Has anyone else noticed this?

Anyways, not much to say these past couple of weeks.  I'e been working and reading tons of books.  Also, Jared and I have decided to train for a 5k.  We still need to find one to sign up for, but we're doing good.  Running keeps me sane.  Although I do believe I need new running shoes...

Countdown

I go to Reno tomorrow.  Hopefully, travel will help the week go by quickly.  I'm so ready for my vacation!!

16 days until we leave for Gatlinburg.  Jared and I are making a pit stop in Columbus, Indiana where we're going to go to COSI, a dynamic hands-on science center.  I've heard a lot of great reviews about it.  So I'm excited.  And then we'll meet family in Tennessee for the week.  It's my first family vacation to the mountains after college.  I'm so excited!

Ouch

Life has been pretty boring but good.  I've been reading way too much (still around 200-300 pages a day).  And I think I'm denying the fact that I'm moving because I really don't want to pack for it...  Ho hum...  Maybe later.

I've been watching a series that's set in the South.  And because of it, I've been talking with a Southern accent (especially when I start talking fast).  Oh joy.  I miss the South.  Guess I'll enjoy the accent while I got it (and the weird looks I get from it)...

So, we made spaghetti earlier this week.  Jared filled the pot with water, and he filled it higher than I normally fill it.  So, when I went to stir the noodles, it took me a second to realize I put my finger in boiling water.  I don't think I hurt it all that much.  It tingled, haha.  Kind of reminds me of other times.  Like when I've shut my thumb in the car door that was just barely locked.  I only noticed when I couldn't pull my hand away from the car.  And I had to unlock the door with my keys before I could set my thumb free.  Or that other time where my finger was in the way of me slamming the house door shut.  It took two attempts before I realized why I couldn't shut the door.  And by that time, my finger was broken.  Oh the joys of no feelings in most of my fingers...

Yeah, I'm bored and reminiscing.  Off to the book I go.

Sookie Stackhouse 8-copy Boxed Set (Sookie Stackhouse/True Blood)

Sookie Stackhouse, that's right.  The books are good.  And so much better than the HBO series...

Wordle

I was playing with Wordle and having a bit of fun.  It's a website that will use the most common words in a phrase or website and create a visual piece of art.  And since I was playing around and couldn't get things to work as well as I wanted them to, I only have two things to show for it.  It made me laugh.  I also did my blog to get a feel of what words I use a lot.  But I didn't save it.  Below is my resume.  Quite amusing...

And then I have one from my About Me page.  Yes, I know I'm crazy.  But this was fun.  And interesting...

Happy

Still alive.  Still here in Logan.  Still working in the lab.  Still enjoying life.  Still reading a lot of books.

Jared went camping the last couple of days.  And I went a little stir-crazy here in Logan.  I think my record in reading was two books in one day.  My mom let me borrow her Sookie Stackhouse books.  And now I need to move on to reading those as soon as I finish reading the series I'm currently on (Morganville Vampires --pathetic I know-- but fun).  Jared just looks around the apartment and sees too many books.  Then he tells me I need to start playing video games and quit reading.  Right...  I'll get right on that as soon as I'm done with this book, haha...

Looking forward to a new adventure.

Point in Life

I don't know what to do with myself.  I've been reading a lot lately.  Pretty much a book a day.  And I love to read.  But it makes my life fail in comparison.  I need a new point in my life right now.  A lot of my points in life involved going to school and finishing school.  And I succeeded and finished school.  While I could say now I want a Master's Degree, I just can't because I don't want to lie to myself.  I don't want my Master's Degree.  I'd be perfectly content without it, and maybe I'll want it later.

And then another point in my life was to fall in love and get married and yada yada.  Well, I succeeded in that.  I married my high school sweet heart, and we are very much in love.  And yes, I have thought about when the kids will come.  But frankly, I don't want them.  Right now, I want to live for myself and not for someone else, even if that someone else will be the pride and joy of my life.  I can barely handle a four pound dog scratching at my legs to get my attention when I'm busy doing something.  I can't imagine what it'd be like to have a 40 pound two year old with a loud obnoxious voice trying to get my attention.  And no, I'm not exaggerating the weight.  If my kids take after my family genes, they'll be toddler football players.  If they take after Jared's family genes, they'll be smaller than cabbage patch dolls.  Maybe, our kids will fall somewhere in between.  Doubtful though...  My mom pretty much cursed me by saying she hopes I have a kid just like me.  Sure, I turned out all right in the end.  But I definitely left a few marks along the path that I took to get here.

Anyways...  I want a career.  I want a job that makes my time worthwhile.  I want something that I can appreciate and be proud to work at.  And I want a salary that will let me pay off my student loans and still let me save up for a house.

There's a lot of things I want.  And I go in between being patient and impatient.  But I guess that's why I read nowadays.  I can at least run away into my books now and again...

Glass Houses (Morganville Vampires, Book 1) The Dead Girls' Dance (Morganville Vampires, Book 2)
What I've read...

Spirit Bound (Vampire Academy, Book 5) Midnight Alley (Morganville Vampires, Book 3)
What I'm currently reading...

The Van Alen Legacy (Blue Bloods, Book 4) Extras (Uglies)
What I will read...

Yeah, I read a lot of vampire books if you haven't noticed already.  I think enjoying vampire novels is a trait I got from my mom...  So blame her if you disapprove (not that I care if you disapprove or not).
